About Us

  • We are a property investor with a history in Windsor dating back to the 1800’s
  • Founded by Marsden Huggins – the son of local artist, Wilfrid Huggins, the family originally developed the site as a petrol filling station in the 1930’s
  • The site on the opposite side of the road previously owned by Marsden, was sold to Shanly Homes in the 1980’s and subsequently developed into flats
  • Under the direction of our current Managing Director, St Leonard’s Road continues to invest in Windsor and is currently working on giving the site at 437-441 a new lease of life
  • Given the Windsor Tourism Plan and the current shortage of affordable overnight visitor accommodation, we have determined that a hotel is the best commercial use of the site and also most needed by the local community
  • Overnight accommodation will reduce the traffic of day visitors whilst creating jobs and new amenities for locals – including a restaurant with underground parking
  • St Leonard’s Road are committed to improve and hold sites in the Windsor area for the long term benefit of the local community

The Wilfrid Huggins Society

Wilfrid Huggins (1873 – 1949) was a Windsor local and Royal Academy artist.  He donated a painting to the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead following the untimely death of his son, Marsden at the age of 33.  Subsequently, the painting was misplaced and after a four year search was found in the basement of the Maidenhead Town Hall in 2018.  The painting, ‘A View of Windsor Castle from Eton Wick’ is in need of restoration which Wilfrid’s great-grandson has committed to funding to bring it back to it’s former glory and display in the local area for Windsorians to enjoy.

In addition to this, the Society is actively searching for any works by Wilfrid Huggins to buy back and repatriate to Windsor for public display.

Environmentally aware

As part of the hotel development at St Leonard’s Road, we have partnered with Tesla to install 3 car chargers at the property. These chargers will not only charge Tesla vehicles, but also other electric cars.

Lost painting is finally found!

Wilfrid’s Huggins great-grandson, Tudor Marsden-Huggins resides most of the time in Australia but visits Windsor frequently and made it his mission to track down an artwork which Wilfrid donated to the Windsor and Maidenhead Council in memory of his son, Marsden following his untimely death at the age of only 33.

Whilst chatting over coffee with Windsor local historian Dr Brigitte Mitchell, Tudor mentioned the missing painting.  Brigitte said she had a friend who may know where it is.  After a 4 year search, the painting was finally found in the basement of the Maidenhead Town Hall!

During a visit to Maidenhead in January 2019, Tudor was finally able to view the painting for the first time.

Tudor has committed to having the necessary restoration work done so that the painting can again be enjoyed by Windsorians.

At the time of writing Andrew Scott, Civic Team Manager from RBWM has confirmed that he is in the process of obtaining quotes for the restoration.

They are yet to find a place for it to be displayed in the local area.
